You may have previously heard on the news that Tesla was planning on doing battery swapping. Well, fortunately, the program had already *died* in June 2015. The pilot program was initiated in January 2015. Then, unsurprisingly, the program shuttered *JUST a couple months* later. That's because Tesla is known for producing *endless money pits* anyway, with most of its cars having *panel gap, bubbling paint, and reliability problems*. Like European cars *assembled in America*, Teslas are *unreliable junk*, "always" in the shop, and cost *thousands and thousands* for every repair.
When *even a computer* knows how bad Tesla is, you know just how *extortionate* Tesla is.
*Consumer Reports* hates Tesla for a reason. Then, in September 2017, Tesla was allegedly working on restarting their battery swapping plans. Unsurprisingly, just like Tesla has abruptly but quietly *canceled* its *solar roof tiles*, there has been no update on the 2017 battery swap plan ever since. Tesla has also recently just *software locked* its Model 3s to prevent fast charging from *3rd-party* CCS or CHAdeMO stations, forcing the owners to fast charge their Teslas at *proprietary* Superchargers, just like how *Apple* software locks iOS and macOS to prevent music transfer without iTunes. Tesla *fanboys* are just as *obnoxiously closed-minded* as *Apple* fanboys.
Fun fact: America did battery swapping over a *century ago*, until the 1920s, according to some 3rd-party sources. Then in 1938, Britain started battery swapping, but failed. Then Tesla did battery swapping but stopped it soon afterwards because it was *unpopular, impractical* (thermal management system in the way), and didn't net significant time savings (because of the *hassle* of removing the thermal management system). *Every single* battery swap program had *tons* of reliability problems (people were getting *degraded* batteries installed in their car and connectors would sometimes be damaged). Battery swapping has *actually* been tried *time and time again* and has *always failed* shortly after. It simply doesn't work, especially with the *complicated* designs of modern battery packs.
Now, if all cars involved are *fleet* vehicles, then battery swapping *might* work. But then the act of disassembling the car (removing the battery) itself slightly damages it every time. When you do it thousands of times, something will break. This is *why truckers don't do fuel tank swaps* (with specially designed baffles in the tanks) *despite refueling taking UP TO 20 MINUTES*.

Instead of *unreliable* battery swapping, my solution to the battery charging time dilemma is *refillable* primary electrolytes. That's similar to hydrogen fuel cells, but producing hydrogen is energy *inefficient* and fuel cells *cost* too much. They already exist in some commercial applications and are known as *flow batteries*.
There's a reason why Toyota has never seriously considered battery swapping on its bulletproof *Prius*.
As always, top-reliable *Toyota*, *Honda*, and *Ford* are the answer. You can't go wrong with other fully *Japanese* car brands like Mazda or Subaru either. Nissan is not fully Japanese because it has merged with Renault (French) and consquently, now has unreliable CVTs.
Tesla cars are not the safest in the world despite Elon Musk's *blatant lies*, as disproven by the IIHS' *small overlap* test on the Model S. Now here are some cars that are not only safer than Tesla, but also much *more affordable*:
